I have released the SCSI/ATA passthrough patch for ddrescue that I have
been working on. It is available on my ddrutiltiy page on sourceforge.
Its purpose is to bypass the excess retries the kernel does on read
errors. It should allow for much faster processing of errors (5 times
faster than --direct, and 15 times faster than normal in my testing).
The current patch is for the latest ddrescue release 1.18.1, and won't
work on other versions.
Please make sure to read the included readme file in its entirety (and
then read it again)! And a reminder for Mac users, don't bother as it
won't work on a Mac.
