Hello Ian,

Should not the log contain all possible addresses?

Yes. As you can see in the manual[1], "The blocks in the list of data blocks must be contiguous and non-overlapping".

Using ddrescueview I saw an area increasing in size that was not colored to
identify its status and when I investigated the log file I saw the following:

0x8DD96F4000 0x00000200 -
0x8DD96F4200 0x00000600 +
0x8DE9708000 0x00000200 -
0x8DE9708200 0x0000B600 +

If ddrescue has produced the logfile above, then it is a bug. Ddrescue would not accept such logfile as input.

Is this expected or should I insert the missing area as a non-tried block and
restart?

Inserting the missing area as a non-tried block and restarting (maybe using ddrescue 1.19) will probably solve the problem, but I am very interested in knowing the cause of the missing area.

Best regards,
Antonio.
