Hello,

I’m reporting a bug with ddrescue version 1.22

I compiled it on macOS 10.12.5 last week.

Using two test DVDs I found that ddrescue is not creating DVD ISO images that
are usable. The first disc I have has known errors in it (which is how I test
to see if ddrescue is working properly), after processing this disc for three
days, when ddrescue reports that its finished I then mount the ISO image but
using any of my DVD player software (including the macOS DVD Player.app and Mac
Blu-ray Player (by MacGO which has always been able to play the most
recalcitrant discs), it will not play (just displays black.

I then ran ddrescue on a known good disc. ddrescue takes less than an hour to
process this disc and it reports no errors at all. I mount the ISO image and it
will not play using any DVD player software I have, so I installed VLC and it
does play but it displays the “Extras” menu a the initial screen and you have
to hunt for the Menu button to get it to actually start.

Postulating that there could be a problem with most of the players (which has
never ever happened before) I burned the ISO image to disc (which verified just
fine) and then when I tried to play the disc, the only software that could play
it (with a few glitches) was VLC.

I had assumed that for forensic work that ddrescue would be ideal (based on
what I read on The Net, but it seems that there is an odd problem with this
version.

Would you be kind enough to take a look at it, please?

Thanks!
Bob
