diffutils 3.0 was released 2010-05-03, and the patch by Paul is dated 2010-08-12 (i.e. later), so it should not be a surprise that the bug is still there. A problem similar to this one has been reported here: http://bugs.debian.org/633978 Should I try to backport the patch to diffutils 3.0 in Debian, or maybe there will be a new stable release sometime soon?
