Hi

This is probably not a bug, but a usability issue.
'ls -l' takes a long time to make a listing of
directories, if the user and group names have
to be fetched from a NIS server overseas.
(We are in Europe and the NIS server is in California).
Wouldn't there be a possibility to cache the
user/group names already fetched for the current
directory listing to recycle them?
If I do 'ls -ln' it is much faster (numerical user/group names).
