Hi, I have written a small patch to 'mv', I would like to contribute this back.
The purpose is to suppress error messages when copying files to an smb share (ie a directory mounted from a microsoft box). The options stop 'mv' attempting to 'chown' and 'chmod' the file. The error was benign in that it worked anyway, but resulted in messages going on to stderr -- which I don't want to >/dev/null in case there are more interesting errors reported. I am happy to prepare this as a patch and send it to you. Questions: 1) What format would you like the patch in 2) What version of source would you like the patch against, and where should I get this from. 3) I would like to document my patch, I am unsure which file to add a description to, it looks like fileutils.texi but ... please let me know.
