Follow-up Comment #1, bug #15405 (project findutils):
I'm unable to reproduce this problem. Are you pasing any options to
updatedb?
Perhaps you could set 'ulimit -c unlimited' and run updatedb manually, and
tell me where the core file (which would be dumped in / unless you use the
--changecwd option) indicates the crash is occurring.
