[...] Not really, imho if you consider running updatedb by cron normal usage. The current updatedb script issues error message on unreadable directories, i.e. every time it runs. Therefore we are forced to redirect error messages to /dev/null when running from cron. What we would like to have is through away informational messages and report real unexpected errors.
