Thanks for this improvement!
However, I don't think that the \[xy] feature is a GNU roff extension (for
example, Solaris lacks it). Some of these work with \( but \(en doesn't seem
to work.
Could you re-submit your patch as a git patch, using \(, with a ChangeLog
entry (specifying that it's a tiny change) please? For more information on
how to submit patches, please see the README-hacking file.
