I'm confused:
Here at upstream GNU findutils, there is no configuration file; and there is
nothing like that mentioned in the man page (updatedb.1).
Maybe your system's distributor has added a wrapper script around
'updatedb', e.g. in order to call it regularly from 'cron'.
Therefore, I suggest to have a look at the downstream package,
or ask your distributor.
