An interesting thing: about the naming of xargs

Hi:
    Learned from Wikipedia :   xargs (short for "extended arguments") is a
command on Unix and most Unix-like operating systems.

    Why isn't it called exargs, but xargs.  Would love to know what was
considered at the time.
