Follow-up Comment #1, bug #68223 (group findutils): I can confirm that there are definitely some problems in GNU's 'findutils' for macOS. I submitted this ticket to the MacPorts team:
https://trac.macports.org/ticket/73455 AFAIK, there has been zero progress on this ticket as the MP maintainer is AWOL. There may or may not be any useful information in this ticket. I gave up on 'findutils' (incl. 'find', 'locate' and 'updatedb') and have had to resort to a 3rd party tool from Apple's "shit shop"... however, I would surely like to see this resolved, and to see 'findutils' restored to full functionality.
