I tracked down the original posting in bug-gdb archives: 1999-04-13 Re: Problems under x86-Solaris-2.6 Jason Molenda The patch installed without errors using version 2.5.4 of the patch utility from Gnu (other postings report that patch 2.5.4 ships as "gpatch" in the SUNWgpch package in Solaris 8.) The "patch" utility that ships with Solaris 8 refused to install the patch.
