I have the same problem in gdb 5.0 (also solaris 2.7). The problem is
caused by a specific solaris "security" patch (or an anti gnu software
patch?).
I don't know exactly which patch it is, nor do the gdb developpers seem
to have a fix. i hope this is not due to a mutual sun-gnu antipathy...
if you are root, you can use gdb. so much about the security of this
security patch (i am now root and *very* dangerous ;-) )
