This doesn't happen on my Mac OS X build.

Does toggling the setting at Settings-->Options-->Display-->Restore window
positions have any effect?

gtk_widget_set_tooltip_text(pow->pwSetWindowPos,

  _( "Restore the previous size and position when "

    "recreating windows.   This is really the job "

    "of the session manager and window manager, "

    "but since some platforms have poor or missing "

    "window managers, GNU Backgammon tries to "

    "do the best it can." ));

Subject: [Bug-gnubg] GUI quirk

When you launch gnubg it opens the window with a given size (the one it had
when
you last closed gnubg probably). Now maximize the window, then minimize it to
the
task bar and restore it: instead of reappearing maximized, it reappears with
the size
it had when you launched gnubg.
