I'd like to request that a feature be added to GNU Backgammon to allow the
user to save the statistics about number of games ending with the cube on
various values, and whether it was a gammon/backgammon or not.

I raised this issue on Stick's forum and got three responses. Joe Russell
was very enthusiastic, and Chuck Bower and Matt Cohn-Geier did at least
say that they used the "View Statistics" feature and complained about not
being able to save the information.

The way I currently do most of my rollouts (on a Linux system) is to
prepare a text file that has something like this---

  set gnubgid xt1cABCzMwcBDA:QYkIAAAAAAAA
  hint
  cmark move set rollout 1 2 3 4
  analyse rollout move
  save position "myposition.sgf"

---and then set it running with "cat file | gnubg -t > output &". Then I
come back later when the rollout is done to view the SGF file.

I'd like to be able to add a line to the file like

  save statistics "myposition.stt"

to save the statistics. How hard is this to implement?

Tim
