Are you sure you have set up the position correctly? You/Wayne (red) are the top player, moving clockwise to the top right. Bob (white) is the bottom player, moving anti-clockwise to the bottom right.
Look at the pip count! Are both sides playing monster back games? The chequers are arranged in a position that would be more commonly found if red were playing anti-clockwise to the bottom right.
