Hey, I've installed gnubg from source on Ubuntu Linux, but the sound didn't work. I've found lots of questions asked on different forums about this issue. The usual solution was to set 'aplay' as the sound command. However there is a better way: just install libcanberra-gtk-dev (which then installs libcanberra-gtk-common-dev and libcanberra-dev). I suggest to add this step to 'Building gnubg from source on Ubuntu' here: http://www.gnubg.org/index.php?itemid=100&catid=10. (Here I also had to replace libreadline5-dev with libreadline-gplv2-dev).
Thanks for the great software. -- Viktor Frank
