It fixes a warning "unknown option after #pragma GCC diagnostic" that was introduced on 2012-02-08. It affects the 'regex' module (which many packages use) with all GCC versions from 4.3.0 to 4.5.3. On the other hand, it's only a warning. So, I don't really know what I would do if I were you...
