Hi Paul,

Do you happen to know whether gcc 17 will, when invoked with the option
-Wstrict-overflow, report

  gcc: error: unrecognized command-line option ‘-Wstrict-overflow’

or will this be at most a warning?

I am worried about existing release tarballs that add -Wstrict-overflow
to the CFLAGS (either via manywarnings.m4 or through other means):
will they still work with gcc 17?
