Follow-up Comment #2, bug #19974 (project gnustep): I had a look at the two images that you send along with the original post to the mailing list (test.png and test.tiff). These were both 48 bpp images. I am a bit surprised that GNUstep supports that format at all. Was this with the standart art backend?
The most likely place to start looking for the origin of the problem is [NSBitmapImageRep TIFFRepresentationUsingCompression:factor].
