Follow-up Comment #4, bug #23039 (project gnustep):

Sorry to be so long getting back to you about this ... I kept hoping to find
time to look at this in more detail, but never finding that time.
The quick answer is that ffcall seems not to work on sparc64 and you need to
try using libffi instead.  What I haven't had time to really look at is why
ffcall doesn't work on sparc64.  As a temporary solution I have tried
modifying the configure script for the base library to build with libffi on
sparc64 systems and to warn if someone tries to build with ffcall on these
systems.
