Follow-up Comment #5, bug #24707 (project gnustep): Fred was right with his doubts. The original change was correcting an issue where the mini window was unmapped by WindowMaker when a window was miniaturized and GSAppOwnMiniWindow=YES (which is the default). After experimenting a bit with the issue with various window managers (WindowMaker, KDE, Gnome, Apple's quartz-wm, and no window manager at all), I've reverted the change in -gui and added a fix in -back.
