It's fairly difficult to compile GNUstep on OSX, due to the many conflicts 
between Apple libraries and GNUstep libraries. Also, there's not a particularly 
good reason to do it, as OSX has a perfectly good development environment 
already.  You could try installing it manually from this:

Although they are old instructions. Another option is to install a Linux VM and 
use GNUstep on that - then you can easily test compatibility by developing on 
OSX and compiling on Linux.
