Sorry - I need more information. I did test GWorkspace on ubuntu and it works
for me (tm).
Are you using Ubuntu packages? or self-compiled ones?
Were you running a previous version of GWorkspace? In the latter case, it
would be nice if you can remove previous preferences and see if it works.
defaults delete GWorkspace
should be enough.
