I had a problem building the AUR IceCat 6.0.2 in ArchLinux, so decided to copy a build from LFS, and it worked.
Then, with several distributions needed, and failing also to build in Mandriva 2010.2, I decided to take another approach, perhaps already described here: make a binary tarball. The system used to to build was a VMWare LFS-6.8 box (with several updates). Attached: .mozconfig. I used some parts from a FireFox binary build and others from Arch. The generated icecat-6.0.2.pt-BR.linux-i686.tar.bz2 tarball was unpacked in /usr/lib in several distros (actually, I use /usr/lib/icecat-6.0.2 and a link /usr/lib/icecat pointing to that). Tested in the following: 1 ArchLinux LXDE 2 Bodhi Linux Enlightenment 3 Debian LXDE 4 Fedora LXDE 5 Gentoo LXDE 6 Kubuntu 7 Lubuntu 8 Mandriva Gnome 2010.2 9 Mint LXDE 10 OpenSuse LXDE 11 PCLinuxOS LXDE 12 Sabayon LXDE 13 Ubuntu (Low Memory) Enlightenment 14 Ubuntu Gnome 15 Ubuntu LXDE 16 Ubuntu Unity 17 Xubuntu It is natively in Portuguese (pt-BR), but with installation of en-US.xpi from gnuzilla site, it becomes translated into English (tested in two of the above distros). All running well, but one retouch was needed for: OpenSuse and Fedora sudo ln -sv /lib/libbz2.so.1.0.6 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0 Mandriva and PCLinuxOS sudo ln -sv /usr/lib/libbz2.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libbz2.so.1.0 I do not know what must be done in order for not needing this. Also, if there is interested and someone can host the tarball for distribution, please, let me know. []s, Fernando
