Follow-up Comment #2, patch #5051 (project grep): Now --exclude-dir has been added, bug #11017 should probably be closed as "Wontdo". And the resolution on patch #3521 could be changed to "Done", with maybe a short 'half of it' comment.
The man and info page text of --exclude-dir should be changed to follow that of --include, to make clear that DIR isn't a regular expression but a wildcard pattern. So instead of "Exclude directories matching the pattern DIR from recursive searches", something like: "Exclude from recursive searches the directories whose base name matches DIR (using wildcard matching as described under --exclude)". The period at the end of --help description of --exclude-dir should be removed (grep.c line 1475), to match the other lines. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/patch/?5051> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
