I wonder why grep version 2.5.2 isn't released ?

Hello,

In grep cvs repository, I've seen version 2.5.2 in NEWS file. The commit
of this file date from November 2006.

This new version in cvs HEAD has very useful feature : --exclude-dir

I wonder why this version isn't released ?
