Bug #56499 also exists across at least three troffs (DWB troff is not surveyed
over there, but Plan 9 troff is). And one symptom reported there is the
end-of-page trap being ignored. So, while I can't definitively say that that
bug is the culprit here, it's a strong enough probability that I'm making this
bug dependent on that one: there's not much point in digging into this mm
problem further until #56499 is fixed. If it persists after that, this can be
looked into anew.
