In addition to "pdftotext", both packages provide "pdfimages", which also deviate in syntax. The one provided by Glyph & Cog LLC expects an addidtional and mandatory argument "image-root" [1]. I will try to come up with a solution that is not overly complex and works for both versions. I think, that would be the preferred approach, as otherwise the value of those tests would lost for developers using macos.
