This also seems true of Heirloom troff's -me package, which diverges
significantly from groff's.
I note this only because I happened to be poking into it for unrelated
reasons. I don't intend to push for ?k's removal. Who knows, it could be a
debugging aid for some hacker who delves into the -me source code deeply
enough to unearth it.
