You can add '^' to the beginning of your search pattern if it uses almost any
regex dialect, if you're using a software tool like _grep_, _sed_, _vi_, or
_emacs_ to search.

Show me, **in a different ticket**, a _groff_ algorithm that's quadratic or
worse in the length of the input text stream and I'll consider it.  I'm not
aware of any that are worse than linear.
