Spawned off of bug #68257.
This is a subtly different issue.
Brace escape sequences should be discarded from copy mode reads in all
contexts except macro definitions (including `ig`nored pseudomacros).
Brace escape sequences are meaningless in:
* string contents
* terminal messages
* transparent throughput
* system commands
* file names
