Reproduced. Probably another case where I wasn't sure the code was reachable,
and/or wasn't sure what to do now.
The first question is answered (also I could have looked at the coverage
reports I've started generating this year), and the second seems to have an
obvious answer: italic correction nodes should asciify as nothing in nroff
mode.
