"cvs diff -u" is the best. If you can't access the CVS, this is
preferable:
$ tar zxf grub-0.5.x.tar.gz
$ mv grub-0.5.x grub-0.5.x.orig
$ tar zxf grub-0.5.x.tar.gz
[you hack GRUB under grub-0.5.x]
$ diff -urN grub-0.5.x.orig grub-0.5.x > your-patch
