  I sometimes see those who say something to me as if the current
maintainers had written all of the code. Actually, Erich wrote nearly
all of the boot code. He did good work (very good!) in most parts, but
he also made a few mistakes. I believe that the assumption that an
a.out kernel is NetBSD by default is extremely bad. Do not forget that
"If all of these tests fail, the last should succeed" is a quite bad
practice.

  I don't like this, and so I will never accept such a patch. It is
definitely a NetBSD's own fault that there is no way to check if a
kernel is a NetBSD kernel.
