When booted from GRUB, Linux sees no SCSI hosts in my system, and
consequently none of my SCSI devices. My hard drives are all IDE at the
moment, so the boot process is unhindered.
The GRUB command I'm using is:
kernel (hd2,1)/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.12-20smp root=/dev/hdc2

However, if I use GRUB and chainload to the LILO bootblock, it does
recognize the SCSI hosts and the devices on them.
GRUB commands:
root (hd2,1)
chainloader +1

I can also chainload my windows98, and it sees my SCSI devices.

I'm not sure if it's a GRUB problem, an aic7xxx problem, or a combination of
the two. In any case, I mention it in case it merits investigating, or
someone can point out what I need to fix.

I'm running a stock Redhat 6.1 and have an Adaptec AIC-7895 integrated
controller. I'm using GRUB built from the Nov 6th CVS sources.
