There is a good reason why GRUB itself should not be affected, but I
don't have energy enough to explain it for now.

Of course, that's impossible, because FreeBSD does not use BIOS to
access disk drives. See the LILO documentation for more information.
(I know that should be documented in the GRUB docs, but that's not
