Don't you see this:
$ automake
automake: stage2/Makefile.am: required file `stage2/compile' not found
docs/Makefile.am:1: required file `docs/mdate-sh' not found
docs/Makefile.am:1: required file `docs/texinfo.tex' not found
It's not really a problem, it's just an annoyance to move those files to
the locations where Automake wants them to be.
