Marc, I can confirm that another machine with an AMI BIOS core is having exactly the same problem you're having. Placing GRUB totally on a floppy works; you can boot GRUB on the floppy, access the disks including the stage1.5 image that fails to load when start.S tries to load it when booting from the hard drive. Booting kernels works from the floppy as well. It's odd that the int13 extensions work fine when booting grub from a floppy, but fail when loading the sector list of stage 1.5. Is anyone else with AMI BIOS having problems getting GRUB loaded from a hard disk? Frank, what BIOS does your PowerEdge 350 have on it? I'm guessing it's Phoenix based, and you would be having Adaptec BIOS problems (not AMI problems, as I'm seeing).
