Further issues: Network stuff in GRUB:
I am a little bit sad about the fact, that the Release 1.0 will have so many problems in the ethernet drivers. I know there are plans to use other OS NIC drivers (although in my oppinion the polling drivers are perfect suitable for this job), but we should think about the release 1.0. For the release we should really think of a method to able to copy in always the current status of the NIC drivers of the etherboot project. For this we can create for example a `netboot/drivers' directory. The other netboot stuff like maic.c and so can stay stable in the GRUB source tree. Only the drivers and may be PCI stuff (aas they want to create more common routines for - for example - enabling bus master, etc....) In the GRUB netboot environment only the iterface has to be rechecked to have for example an easy timer support (can also be a polling routineon the hardware timer), etc.. Are you interested in such plans to have quite hopefully good working NIC driver versions until GRUB will get a new NIC stuff. I can imagine (dependent on my spare time) that I can help here (I can propably do that stuff).
