So I can have a fresh mbr to write on. With the fresh install when I get to installing grub it doesn't work... I am using an ReiserFS for both the /boot and / partitions. I am using a 7200 rpm IDE hard drive if that helps. Here is the error I get grub> root (hd0,0) Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x83 grub> setup (hd0) Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition. I don't whats wrong w/ it or if I did something wrong. thanks Follow-up Comments ******************* ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2002-Nov-20 10:37 By: None I couldn't get /boot to be reiserfs. Thanks, Okuji ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2002-Nov-08 08:59 By: None I got the same here reiserfs is not recognized as filesytem type... ------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2002-Oct-21 00:48 By: awhittier I also have the same problem installing 1.4_rc1- my configuration is: two IDE channels on the motherboard; 1st channel is empty, CD-ROM on second channel master, CD-RW on second channel slave Maxtor IDE controller, with two channels - 1st channel master is 160 GB maxtor drive, slave is old IDE drive, 2nd channel empty. I believe that the first drive on the external controler is hd0 (1st non-CD IDE device); I have three partitions on it: /dev/hde1 is a FAT32 partition /dev/hde2 is a reiserfs partition /dev/hde3 is a swap partition. This is the output I get: grub> root (hd0,1) Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x83 grub> setup (hd0) Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition.
