OK, I wasn't sure. But it's moot now, strangely: I bit my lip and installed 
Win98 last night, assuming I'd at LEAST have to re-install Slackware Linux. 
Somehow, the Win installation went straight to /dev/hda2 where I wanted it. I 
booted Slack with a rescue disk, reconfigured and reinstalled LILO, and now have 
the triple-OS system I'd been after. I haven't a clue what allowed this, but 
there it is.
