That's what I was thinking. Many people seem to have success with GRUB/Windows, but there are different versions of Windows and maybe they have different ideas about exactly how much space is unallocated. If even applications like TurboTax (as someone wrote) are storing things there, using this space seems pretty tricky. (This computer has Windows 2K Pro, Novell Netware client, some kind of ZEN remote management stuff, Office 2K Pro, and not much else on it). > ( point : don't store stuff in space you did not allocate > for yourself ! ) > > Try telling grub to store the stage1.5 somewhere else. I guessed doing this as follows (I didn't see anything explicit in the docs). First boot from the grub floppy. Enter: root (hd0,7) install /boot/grub/stage1 d (hd0) (hd0,7)/boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 0x2000 p Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and try to boot off the HD MBR. I get a blank screen with the blinking underline cursor at the upper left, not even printing Loading stage1.5, etc. Suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? -- Raj Manandhar ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (256) 922-1512 x2900 _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
