Thanks. For the record: I already updated my BIOS and am now experimenting with tweaking BIOS settings. Still no luck ... Anyway, now I am entitled to press HP (it's a Compaq BIOS) just a bit harder, if I still can't get "wake on lan" to work. If I do have succes I might post a solution to bug-grub. It could be helpful to someone wondering about a similar Geom Error after a "wake on lan" ...
