/**************************************************************************/ [bugs #8899] Full Item Snapshot: URL: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=8899> Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: Mark Seger On: Wed 05/12/04 at 11:23 Category: Disk & Partition Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Software Error Resolution: None Assigned to: None Originator Name: Mark Seger Originator Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Status: Open Release: 0.93 Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: Summary: Failure to populate device.map for Compaq/HP Smart Array Original Submission: When requesting grub to populate a new device.map via --device-map=file (where file doesn't exist) or via grub-install --recheck, grub does not make any entries for SmartArray devices, specifically those with names such as /dev/cciss/c0d0. Rather, device.map is populated only with an entry for (fd0). However, the device.map that is generated by anaconda on RH (I've only tested this so far with 9.0), is valid and contains and entry for (hd0) /dev/cciss/c0d0 using that device.map it IS possible to install grub via the commands root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) however it is NOT possible to set up via grub-install because of a bug (I'll enter separately) that prevents it from working with SmartArrays as well.
