Follow-up Comment #3, bug #12516 (project grub):
I have had an opportunity to reboot the workstation and found that while it
does not work from the command line, it does boot correctly. I can only
assume that this is because memory that would be free at boot time isn't once
you have an operating system up and running.
Whether or not this is a bug, it cost us countless hours so the error could
probably afford to be more useful.
