Summary: Documentation: Missing information on getting Grub to work with DDO Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: None Submitted on: Wed 06/08/2005 at 09:18 Category: Documentation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Action Request Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Ralph Navarro Originator Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Open/Closed: Open Release: Grub - All Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: _______________________________________________________ Details: There is no information in the documentation on how to get Grub to work with a hard drive that uses a "dynamic drive overlay" (DDO) program that must reside in the MBR. There are many older motherboards out there whose latest BIOS cannot be upgraded to support the newer drives. As a result, drive manufacturers have created Dynamic Drive Overlay programs that will augment a BIOS capability to support their larger drives. There is much confusion on how to use Grub in a DDO environment. Having documentation mention DDO and how to use Grub in this environment would avoid the confusion and make Grub more useful. _______________________________________________________ Carbon-Copy List: CC Address | Comment ------------------------------------+----------------------------- ralph --DOT-- navarro --AT-- comcast --DOT-- net | Originator Email _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=13335> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
