Try to use Grub 0.97 (Last version of Grub).

This should work although I don't know how does Windows work exactly.
Did the Windows XP system on (hd0,5) always be there or was there a
system in (hd0,0) before and then you installed Linux?
Could someone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do
in order to boot WinXP

Can you try Super Grub Disk ( http://adrian15.raulete.net/grub/ )
Classic Boot --> Boot Partition --> Boot 7th partition
and see what it tells you?
If I were you I will first try to answer 2) then try the 3) and if you
cannot make boot the Windows from SGD.
Then 1).
