Summary: ReiserFS journal replay doesn't work Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: mikulas Submitted on: Monday 10/09/2006 at 18:57 Category: Filesystem Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Software Error Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Mikulas Patocka Originator Email: Mikulas Open/Closed: Open Release: 0.97 Reproducibility: Once Planned Release: _______________________________________________________ Details: Once when I rebooted Linux on ReiserFS without proper shutdown (expecting that ReiserFS can recover from that), I was unable to boot Linux kernel using using GRUB --- it reported "Inconsistent filesystem structure". It wasn't even able to execute "chainloader (hd0,1)+1; savedefault 1" command (with the same message), to load different operating system. Only one of the entries for an old kernel actually worked, I booted into Linux using it, Linux did journal replay, and GRUB bootes all entries fine since then. I guess that ReiserFS journal replay code in GRUB is buggy. The system is Suse Linux 10.0 I'm sorry I don't have the dump of that partition in unreadable state. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?17957> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
